Combustion Safety Training

This course will cover the testing procedures of the International Fuel Gas Code and BPI standards.  Attendees will be exposed to the fundamentals of testing combustion appliances under a worst-case scenario for spillage and carbon monoxide and diagnosing problems utilizing draft measurements.  Contractors that are BPI Certified may be well versed in these safety tests, but may wish to use this course as a refresher, for training new install technicians, or to understand the changes coming under BPI new standards. This course is especially targeted toward non-BPI contractors to bring awareness to the HVAC industry of the serious consequences that can occur when atmospheric water heaters are orphaned during a high efficiency heater installation.  This class is also open to insulation contractors that should be aware that air tightening a home could have significant unintended results on combustion appliances. Technicians earn 4 NATE CEHs toward re-certification in all specialties except Refrigerator Installation, and/or 2 BPI CEUs. Morning and afternoon sessions are available in the southern and northern parts of the state.
