Grants and Solicitations

Solicitation for MSR Partnerships

DOE's National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) has just released the solicitation for the MSRI Small Grant Program for State and Local MSR Partnerships. Awards under this announcement will be grants with a term of no more than three years. Subject to funding availability, the total DOE funding available under this announcement will be approximately $1,000,000 (DOE funding) in Fiscal Year (FY) 2005 as a result of this Announcement. DOE will fund up to $30,000 for Phase 1 projects and $50,000 for Phase 2 projects, and anticipates funding approximately 25 grants.

The awards will be made through a competitive process. DOE will fund up to $30,000 per Phase 1 projects and $50,000 per Phase 2 projects.

Proposals are due Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at 8 p.m. EST.

Eligibility for award is restricted to DOE-recognized MSR State and Local Partnerships; however, applicants who are interested in establishing a Partnership must contact Glenn Strahs and provide a letter stating the intent to establish a Partnership by March 25, 2005 in order to be considered for evaluation.

The letter must describe their commitment to the Initiative's objectives, the general nature of the partnership, its membership and indicate their goal for the specific number of qualified solar energy systems to be installed on buildings in their community by 2010. As a minimum, partnerships must commit to facilitating the installation of 500 solar energy systems by 2010. NOTE:

Those interested in forming a new MSR Partnership should first determine whether or not a Partnership already exists for their geographic area. A list of all recognized MSR Partnerships can be found on the MSR website. Scroll down on the right hand side of the page to find the clickable map.
