By reviewing the basics of electricity, the refrigeration cycle, and troubleshooting, this course is an excellent preparation for the Core, Air Conditioning and/or Heat Pump exams. This course will provide an overview of air conditioning fundamentals and includes topics such as saturation charts, condenser and evaporator operation, superheat and subcooling, compression ratio and charging by weight, as well as reading schematics for both split systems and packaged units. The class will also explore the sequence of operations for air conditioning systems in order to create a more logical method for diagnostic procedures. Through the use of computer simulation programs, technicians will learn to diagnose common operating and mechanical defects. This approach will allow technicians to troubleshoot and diagnose R-22 as well as R-410A air conditioning system problems faster and more accurately.
